How Ancient Stories Inspire Sustainable Clothing at Pacha

Pacha Ancestral Design was born from a journey of resilience, tradition, and belonging. Founded by Ecuadorian artisans who made Canada their home, every piece supports families back in Ecuador while weaving the shared story of migration, culture, and sustainability.

What brought your family here?
Maybe it was a dream.
Maybe it was survival.
Maybe it was both.

Whether your parents, grandparents, or maybe even you came to Canada or the U.S., the story is likely one of courage, resilience, and hope. It is the story that built North America, and it is the story that inspired Pacha Ancestral Design.

North America is a land woven from every corner of the world. Canada and the United States are young lands, but ancient in soul. What makes them extraordinary is not a single culture, but the tapestry of many. From Irish and Italian settlers, to Chinese railway workers, to African slaves seeking freedom, to refugees from Vietnam, El Salvador, Syria, and Ukraine—this land is stitched together by human movement.

In Canada, over 23 percent of the population are immigrants. One in four Canadians today were born outside the country. Immigration has shaped every city, every kitchen, every song and handshake. In the U.S., the numbers are even greater. Nearly 15 percent of the population are immigrants—over 45 million people—each with a legacy of building, surviving, and dreaming.

But immigration is more than a statistic. It is a heartbeat. We often forget how deeply personal these journeys are. Maybe someone in your family came with a suitcase and nothing more. Maybe they left everything behind—facing language barriers, cold winters, homesickness, or even racism. Maybe they worked long nights in kitchens, construction, or caregiving jobs to give you a shot at school, freedom, or peace. Maybe you were that person.

Pacha Ancestral Design carries the story of immigration. We are Ecuadorian-born, Canadian by choice, and citizens of the Earth by spirit. We came with suitcases full of handmade dreams—woven from alpaca wool, ancestral techniques, and the quiet strength of the South. We came with our children in our arms and traditions in our hands. And we found here, in Canada, an adoptive motherland that did not ask us to forget who we were, but invited us to share it.

Our work now supports five families back in Ecuador, whose hands still craft each piece with soul. Every poncho, every bag, every fiber tells a story—of resilience, beauty, and belonging.

We are people of the heart. We are people of the Earth. We are threads in the same tapestry, sharing a path. Maybe you came in a time of war. Maybe you came with your heart broken. Maybe you came full of fear. But now, after all these years—you are home.

Do not let the story be forgotten. Remember it. Wear it. Live it proudly. When you support Pacha, you are not just buying a product. You are honoring a journey—yours, ours, and the ones still being written.

From the Andes to the Rockies, from South America to North America, thank you for walking this path with us.

With all our heart,
Erika & Víctor
